Welcome to Our Adventure!
Jef grew up hearing his Papaw tell of how the Huckaby family had Native American in their lineage. As he tried to track down and prove that, he discovered it’s not Native American, but African. We’ve also discovered that his ancestors have been in the country for a very long time — we’re still trying to prove “entry point” for many of his family names.
Kelly is fairly new to the country compared to Jef. She grew up listening to her paternal grandparents speak Polish (they were both first-generation American-born). Even on her mom’s side, she’s no more than fourth-generation American-born.
The puzzling aspect of research has been a fun challenge for both of us. While Jef is always looking for new documents to prove relationships, Kelly is fascinated by the photos and thoughts of what life was like in older days.
Traveling to different states to visit libraries, archives, and city/county/state offices is almost as much fun as traipsing through the morning dew to snap pictures of grave stones.
We’re so glad you’ve chosen to join us on this adventure. Who knows… you may even be related to one of us!
