The 1880 census shows Jacob with his family in Muskego, Wisconsin. They are in Franklin, Wisconsin, in 1885, and the 1905 census shows Jacob as a boarder with a family in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1940, he and Olive and their two oldest children are living in Lyons township in Walworth county, Wisconsin.

Jacob is buried with his wife Olive in Franklin, Wisconsin, at St Martin of Tours Cemetery (formerly Sacred Hearts Cemetery).
